NAIL ART
Hi guys, today I’m here to talk to you about nail art. Truthfully, I learned a lot to be able to do this article. It’s not like I didn’t knew what it was, of course, but sometimes you found yourself amazed by all the things you didn’t know in regard of some stuff.
HISTORY
Here’s the thing, we aren’t really sure about when the nail hart was invented, but it seems that his roots dated back from 5000 B.C. to 3000 B.C just in Egypt ! There was already a system of cast back in this day, and it seem that nail art took a big part in showing who was of high statue and who was of lower statue.
It was there all this time, the way of doing it wasn’t the same, that’s for sure. Back in this day, they used henna. Then, in the 1800’s, the modern manicure developed with the invention of the orange stick, a tool for manicure. Then, in 1907, the first liquid nail polish was invented, although it was colorless. Here’s the quick back up history, so that you can understand what we’re exactly talking about.
So, in fact, it wasn’t that it didn’t existed, it already was there, in our habits, in our culture… It’s just that we weren’t communicating about it like now. The nail art trend and fashion didn’t really expend until the appearance of social media. The trend became major subculture among women after the internet age and the common use of the social media. Women were painting their nails way before they could shown it on social media, but somehow, social media recreated the way they did it. Nail become an empty canvas with infinite possibility to express one’s creativity. And social media made it easier to connect and share this passion and reunite people around a same art. An art who could end up being done and interpret differently depending on one’s culture, one’s understanding and representation of beauty.

Just like clothes, hair or accessories, nails became the windows of the trend by being shared on social media. And it begun to evolve with it. New nail art techniques would be invented, new type of nail polisher… And so, people would try something new for fun and others people would want to try in on, improving it, modeling it to suit their tastes. Then, changing the color to the shape, doing something very detailed or more abstract.

You can use so many tools to do it, a sponge, a toothpick, adhesive… I don’t even know if there’s a limit of possibility. It never really stop growing, and that’s what’s funny about it. It’s a virtuous circle you see. Social media helped nail art to grow, people became fond of this art and thus, they kept spreading it more through same and new social media. That’s why art never stop to amaze me in a way, it always find a way to bring back beauty into this world.
