THE BODY PAINTING IN THE MUSIC'S WORLD
Hello everybody ! Today’s article is about body painting in music. As you know, music is also an art, but it is not really a body art. So I’m going to draw a parallel between, bodypainting and music !
The body painting in the music’s world: Texte
The body painting technique is often used in songs clips. It was developed through the expansion of video clips. In the 80 and 90s the clips had a much more artistic universe. It was at this time that we noticed some sketches of the body painting in the music’s world. With the arrival of the internet and especially YouTube, the video clip has gone viral. Originality and research, this is how to stand out to make a good clip, and body painting is an excellent technique for that.
The body painting in the music’s world: Image
The most famous video clip released in 2011, with body painting in it, is of course the one of the song’s Somebody That I Used To Know by Gotye.
I’m sure you must know it. In this clip, we can see the twos singers naked, and as the song goes on, they get covered with paint. The painting depicts geometric shapes while using colours to blend the two singers into the background.
This music video has made its mark with the using of body painting. But body painting already existed in the world of music.
The body painting in the music’s world: Vidéo
Indeed, the famous British rock band Pink Floyd, had used the body painting technique a few years earlier. In 1997, the band released a poster with naked women with a record cover on their backs. It was to advertise de release of the “back” catalogue of Pink Floyd. This poster was very popular because of the originality of the body painting. I’m sure you’ve heard of it.
The photo has long been very popular on social networks so much that a reproduction was made by six curvy women. (see the Instagram of Jessica Sweeney)

Nowadays, video clips include a lot of fluorescent body painting. This allows you to see a body in the dark and it an artistic dimension. The movement has spread to the social media.
